Marpa Centre end of year activities

It is that time when we think of get togethers and the festive season so I thought I'd let you know that the Marpa Centre is holding a social get together in December and a planning meeting shortly.

We want to plan some activities for next year including visiting teachers and possibly a member of sanga (monk or nun) to visit for a week may be in March. We can review our weekly sessions and get feedback on what people woould like happening at the centre in general.

Also, there are several projects and activities that the centre has an interest in which could use some assistance. If you have an interest in helping out with any of the following let me know:

Newsletter (called Contact) it has been published a couple of times a year for publicity purposes mostly but has the scope for further development.

Sponsorship program for monks at Khenpo Paljor Monastery in Tibet. As a legacy of Kunsangs visit, we have a direct relationship with Khenpo through which we help with the education and housing of monks in this monestry.

Dharma shop. This mainly consists of dharma books, some incense and malas and generally things that might be helpfull befor a practicing buddhist.

Library. We have a small collection of books now on the shelves in the gompa that are available for loane.

Room and ground maintenance. We mow the lawn at Wharf Street and look after the garden. The room can do with a clean up at times.

Website updates. Our website can be added to by us at any time through a fairly simple manner. It currently has a lot of relivent information but more than likely can be improved.

If you have an interest in helping out with any of these it would be great if you could come to the planning meeting.

Planning meeting Tuesday evening 20th November 6pm at Shots of Happy (in the arcade off Memorial Dr, Forster) Let me know if you can come so I can book. [see Marpa Centre contact details on the right of the main page]

There will be an Annual General Meeting in the new year for incorporation perposes, to elect commity members and discuss broader aspects of the centre.
